At CoEffex, we believe great leadership starts with meaningful coaching. The Coaching Effect Survey (CES) is designed to give team members a safe, confidential way to share their experiences so leaders can grow and teams can thrive.

Below is a list of frequently asked questions to help you understand the survey, how it works, and how your feedback is used.

If you have any additional questions, you can always contact us directly at research@coeffex.com.

Coaching Effect Survey

The Coaching Effect Survey (CES) is a confidential, web-based survey that invites team members to share feedback about their manager’s or coach’s leadership and coaching behaviors.

The survey includes approximately 60 questions that focus on specific, observable coaching behaviors, such as building strong relationships, creating organized and productive work environments, and fostering work that drives engagement. Your responses help your organization:

  • Support leadership growth
  • Understand team member experiences
  • Strengthen coaching effectiveness across teams
Your organization has partnered with CoEffex to support meaningful leadership development. Your manager or coach is actively learning how to become a more effective leader, and your perspective is a critical part of that process. By sharing your experiences, you provide insight into what’s working well and where additional support or guidance could make a real difference. Your feedback helps shape stronger coaching, more productive team experiences, and a workplace where everyone can grow.

You will receive a survey invitation email from CoEffex with a unique access link. Please think about the leader you directly report to or the person who most closely serves in a formal coaching or supervisory role.

Most respondents complete the survey in 10–15 minutes.

If you report to more than one manager, your organization will let you know if you should complete one survey or multiple surveys.

Please contact your L&D or HR team –– or the CoEffex research team if you are unsure.

CES results are used to support reflection, coaching conversations, and leadership development. At CoEffex, we help managers turn insights into positive coaching impact.

Managers receive feedback only in aggregated, summarized reports that highlight strengths, themes, and opportunities for development. Organizational leaders may also receive aggregated, high-level summaries to help guide broader leadership initiatives.

Individual responses are confidential and are never shared directly with managers, organizational leaders, or other participants.

CoEffex, as a trusted third-party partner, collects and manages all CES responses to help protect participant confidentiality. Individual responses are never shared with managers or organizational leaders.

Reports use summarized feedback and are shared with authorized organizational leaders when participation thresholds are met (for example, when three or more team members have completed the survey) or when other organization-approved reporting requirements are satisfied.

Open-ended responses are reviewed and grouped. If comments contain potentially identifying information, CoEffex works to remove those details before results are shared.

No. Managers never see your set of individual responses. They only receive grouped, summarized results.

Yes. We provide our partner organizations with survey completion status upon request so they know participation levels and can make decisions about how best to engage team members to get the most comprehensive feedback. The Coaching Effect Survey, however, is confidential. Your manager and organizational leaders will never see your individual responses. As the independent third party administering the survey, CoEffex keeps track of whether your survey has been completed or not but not how you answered the survey questions. We use completion information only to monitor participation and send reminders to those who have not yet completed the survey.

After the survey administration period ends, organizations receive only aggregated, summarized results. Individual responses are not shared and results are reported only when minimum participation thresholds are met to help protect participant confidentiality.

After the survey closes, CoEffex analyzes the feedback and prepares summary reports. Managers receive insights focused on strengths, themes, and opportunities for growth. Organizational leaders may receive a broader summary at the organizational level.

Managers use CES feedback to better understand how their coaching and leadership approach is experienced by their team. The feedback provides insights into what is working well and where there may be opportunities to continue growing and improving.

Managers can use these insights to guide development conversations, strengthen communication, and make intentional adjustments that support their team’s success. The goal of CES feedback is to encourage reflection, build awareness, and help create stronger coaching relationships.

You’ll receive a survey link via email from CoEffex or through internal communication from your organization. The survey can be completed on any device with internet access. If you don’t see the email in your inbox, please check your spam or junk folder.

At the beginning of the CES, you will be asked to select the manager you are providing feedback for from a list of leaders in your organization. Simply choose the name of the manager you are giving feedback about. This ensures that your responses are grouped correctly and delivered to the right leader, helping them receive accurate, meaningful insights from their team.

No. Your survey invitation is unique to you and should not be shared.

Survey invitations are tied to individual participants to help maintain the integrity and confidentiality of the Coaching Effect Survey process.

If a colleague believes they should have received an invitation, they should reach out to research@coeffex.com. Some team members may not be included in the organization’s Coaching Effect program or may be participating in a different development group, and the team can help confirm eligibility and next steps.
